ABOUT US
Lots of festivals out there have "Toronto" in their name. But when you dig a little deeper, it's disheartening to see how few local films they showcase. As filmmakers, we've been down that road—forking over $40 per submission, only to sit in half-empty screenings filled with forgettable international films, with networking opportunities few and far between. So we started Toronto Based, a short film showcase with an emphasis on networking, high-quality narrative shorts, and free beer.
Local Only
Our lens is focused on Toronto — spotlighting both our filmmakers and their distinctive stories. All filmmakers must be Toronto-based (submissions from Southern Ontario are accepted).

To ensure no hidden gems are overlooked, both submissions and tickets are priced at $5.

A curated palette of only 6 films will ensures every selection speaks
of quality.
Networking Based
The event culminates in an after-party, fostering connections within our independent scene—and yes, the beer's on us.
